Toronto Style Elementary School 5
The fifth elementary school in my Toronto Schools collection. This school is a recreation of Ellesmere-Statton Public School.
Ellesmere-Statton Public School has a history in 3 parts. The school (Ellesmere Junior Public School) was originally constructed in the early 1950’s. The school would be soon after expanded with a 2 floor classroom wing in the rear; which itself was expanded in 1961. In 1965 a new Gymnasium would be built, with the old one being converted to a Lunch Room/Assembly room. Finally in 1973 a Middle School ("Wendell Statton Senior Public School) was added onto the west side of the facility, although for a time the two schools operated as 2 distinct schools despite being physically connected to each other. Sometime in the 80’s or 90’s the two schools were officially merged into a single entity.
The facility itself is interesting due in part to it being 2 separate schools for a time meaning that there are some duplicated facilities in the school.
The Elementary wing includes 22 Standard Classrooms, 3 Kindergarten rooms, Gymnasium, Multi-Purpose room (serves as both a Lunch Room and Assembly room), and a Library.
The Middle School wing includes 8 Standard Classrooms, 2 Science Labs, Gymnasium, Cafeteria with Kitchen, and a Library.
