Description:

Do you feel the standard highway is too fat? Do you hate ugly gravel sidewalks? Then the tiny 1 lane highway ramp is for you! Only 1U wide, can elevate, has the full speed of a highway, and even speak English.

With the Tiny 1 Lane Highway Ramp, your freeway sphaghetti will be a lot less cluttered. Your interchanges will be prettier. Your city will look like it was built by a professional. All you need to do, is say no to fat ramps.

There are three (!!!) sizes of Tiny Ramp included, the smallest (1N1W) being so tiny OSHA will sue the mayor. Tiny Ramps also curve gradually, forming natural insertion lanes instead of a discontinuous branch, just like real life ramps.

NOW INCLUDES 2 LANE VERSION!

Just by painting some dotted lines, no width increase, it is a 2 lane highway! Ultra narrow, mega dangerous, the Tiny 2 Lane highway sees thousands of accidents yearly from sleepy or drunk drivers speeding at 100 km/h right into the crash barriers.

I am just kidding – cims are perfect drivers! With the new cats’ eyes on the roads, Tiny Highways are safer than ever, and chevron signs will soon pop up to warn danger at bends.

AUTOMATIC ON RAMPS AND OFF RAMPS

These tiny highways continue to have lane lines even at junctions; any angle, any number of connecting roads, even transitions from ground to elevated. A lot of effort was spent to make this feature possible!

These highways will automatically spawn on ramps and off ramps, too. No props, decals, ploppable asphalt, sugar, or preservatives needed – just draw a junction, and these engineers will paint it for you. They will even spawn separate markings for on-ramps and off-ramps, the white triangles pointing in the correct direction.

The unbroken lines are completely optional – they have an angle limit, will disappear by adjusting road curvature with MoveIt beyond 45 degrees. They also follow a "bigger highway trumps smaller highway", so if a 2 lane highway is crossing a 4 lane, for example, the 4 lane overwrites the 2 lane highway at the junction. This means multi-lane ramps also have correct lane markings.

3 and 4 LANES!

Rounding off this collection, we also have three and four lane highways, allowing you to do away with fat vanilla highways completely.

TWO WAY HIGHWAYS

For two way versions, check out Tiny National Roads. (Separate Steam asset pack)

PLAIN VERSION IN BRIDGE MODE!

No need to subscribe to duplicate assets just to get the plain version of these roads. Simply activate Road Anarchy, select "Bridge" mode, and you’ll have a plain version with no lines, no road markings, no arrows, no signs, no siderails. For detailers!

ARTSY TUNNELS!

Just like real life, teenage cims will vandalize tunnel walls with graffiti and street art. Results are creative, colorful and unpredictable. If you wish to "clean up" their act, just give the tunnel a name and your road engineers automatically repaint the tunnel with a nice clean look.

Tiny tunnels also use a concrete base for realism, rather than the illogical "box of pure steel" by vanilla roads.

TINY PILLARS

Y-Pillars, adapted from GCVos’ excellent asset, use a smaller footprint compared to regular highways and are designed to stay "out of the way" while still maintaining realism. The narrower foundation allows roads to be constructed underneath a Tiny Highway without blocking traffic lanes. In fact, they are ALL small enough to fit inside the median of a regular road.

ASSET LIST

Narrow 1 Lane Ramp – 0.5U
Tiny 1 Lane Ramp – 1U
Tiny 2 Lane Highway – 1U
TIny 3 Lane Highway – 2U
Tiny 4 Lane Highway – 2U

1U ingame is 8 meters IRL. Always two highways with the same length for seamless transitions.

For comparison, current three lane highways are 22m wide. Current single lane ramps are 12m wide. Tiny Highways save a lot of space compared to vanilla roads.

Future Plans

Tiny highways are still in beta mode so make sure you have savegames with different names. Updates will be continuous till december.

Unfortunately, many bugs cant be detected in development (thats why they’re called bugs) and these highways have to cover many features. Its not a simple for example, a ground-only road, which would have a lot less to worry about.

Prop Plans

Smaller motorway overhead gantry to fit the road
Speed limit signs with reduced speed limits under "dangerous road" conditions
Chevron sign at bends

Invisible trees

Tiny highway will not normally have trees, but by adding a placeholder invisible tree, it gains the ability to make a tree line with Network Skins 2. This means i will not need to duplicate the whole stack of motorways just to have a tree lined version.

I will also add that the Network Skins 2 mod is excellent and will change road color, pillars, lights and distances between props for you.

Special credits

Blackrhino for troubleshooting and improving 3D models for Tiny Highways. Rhino also has a workshop with Sunken Highways!

Sp3ctre18 for providing details and scaling of real life tiny roads.

GCVos for creating the original model of Y-Pillars. (Pillars have been resized to fit Tiny Highways).

Chameleon for extensive stress testing.
