Dutch Canals
Make your city feel like Amsterdam with dutch canals, lined with narrow one way streets, and narrow bridges with many tiny arches. And everything is made out of brick.
You get 3 networks:
1. Dutch Canal, a narrow shallow canal
2. Dutch Canalside Road, a one way road made to flank the canal
3. Dutch Canal Bridge, a two way road made to cross canals
Put down the Dutch Canalside Road first, on each side of the canal. Leave 2 units of space in between for the canal. Make sure the trees are on the same side of the road as the canal. Then, enable road anarchy and put down the Dutch Canal. Finally add bridges where needed.
The wider vanilla canals can also be turned into dutch canals. Follow the same procedure but leave 4 units of space between the Canalside roads on opposite banks. The bottom will look a bit strange but once filled with water we can forget about that. The Dutch canal will connect to the vanilla canals so you can mix and match.
Once your canals are down, you will get to enjoy the true Dutch experience of micro managing water levels. Welcome to the Netherlands!
Mods Required:
Fine Road Anarchy 2 to get roads close to the canals
Network Tiling to make the Dutch Canal look good
Mods highly recommended:
Move It to get rid of space between buildings and the road
Fine Road Tool 2 to switch between ground level and elevated versions of the Dutch Canal Bridge
Known limitations:
You cannot connect the Dutch Canal to the vanilla deep canal.
You cannot connect to Macwelshman’s rivers. But the Wide Dutch Canal does!
