Hitachi IET Class 801 – LNER (Unbranded, line colourable)
The Intercity Express Programme was a government initiative to deliver brand new electric and bi-mode trains onto the Great Western and East Coast Mainlines to replace the ageing fleet of InterCity 125s and 225s. Hitachi was selected as the supplier, with the bi-mode class 800, the electric class 801, and the sister, more powerful, bi-mode class 802, all of which feature identical body shells. The trains come in formations of 5 and 9 cars, providing faster, higher capacity, more ecological trains on the aforementioned intercity routes.
This pack contains class 801 trains in 5 and 9 coach formations in Unbranded LNER livery with a line colourable stripe running the length of the train. An additional 4 coach formation is also provided to be compatible with standard length stations. Turn on/off whichever you please in the content manager.
This train has a real life top speed of 225 kph (140 mph, with in cab signalling) and is thus deemed a high speed train with an in game top speed of 200 kph (IPT2 train speed setting of 32).
