US NAVY Arleigh Burke class Flight I Aegis Destroyer, USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51). USS Arleigh burke is the first ship of the highly capable Arleigh burke class Aegis DDG of the US NAVY. Euipped with powerful Aegis combat system and advanced sonar, Arleigh Burke class DDG is capable of conducting both anti-air, ballistic/cruise missile defense, surface combat, anti-submarine mission. The Flight I configuration is slightly smaller then the later Flight IIA configuration, and the main difference is that Flight I does not have helicopter hangar but does have helicopter refueling and operation capability. Also it has 2 CIWS instead of only 1 in the latter flight IIA ships. Although USS Arleigh Burke has been in service for the US NAVY since 1991, it is still one of the most capable surface combat ship around the world.
