Description:

Regent Park/Duke of York Public School was an elementary school located in Toronto Ontario, Canada. The school was built in 1960 and was designed by "Frederick C. Etherington" and "G.D. Frittenburg". The school would be expanded in 1968 with the addition of a new classroom wing and an expansion to the kindergarten wing to house students coming from the closed Duke of York Public School. Over the years the school would deteriorate and this mixed with its reputation as an inner city school servicing the much maligned Regent Park neighbourhood would become a problem for the school. The Toronto District School Board would eventually decide to expand another nearby elementary school to facilitate the closure of this one, with the closure occurring in 2013. The building would lay abandoned until 2015 when demolition work began and today the site of the former school remains empty and will eventually be redeveloped as part of the redevelopment of the Regent Park neighbourhood.

The school features: 28 Standard Classrooms, 4 Kindergarten Rooms, combined Gym and Lunchroom, and Library.
